How we think about mountain driveways
Most driveway failures up here come down to two things: water and slope. So that's where every job starts. We look at where water comes from and where it can go, how steep each section is, and what's under the surface — granite, forest soil, old fill — before we talk about asphalt.
- Water first. Swales, culverts and cross-slope built in from the start.
- A real base. Roots, duff and soft material out; crushed base compacted in lifts.
- Honest options. If chip seal, millings or concrete fits part of your drive better, we'll say so.
- Written prices. Area, depths, drainage work and edges spelled out.
