Walk it and look for

  • New cracks or cracks that have widened.
  • Heaves and dips that weren't there last fall.
  • Broken edges, especially where the plow ran.
  • Potholes starting as small broken patches.
  • Culverts plugged with sand, needles or debris.
  • Ditches and swales filled in or washed out.
  • Sand and grit left from winter.

Before monsoon season

  1. Clear culverts and swales so summer storms have somewhere to go
  2. Sweep off winter sand
  3. Get potholes and broken edges repaired
  4. Seal cracks once it's warm
  5. Sealcoat if it's been 2–3 years
