Typical mountain damage
Potholes
Water got into the base, froze and thawed, and the asphalt broke loose. We saw-cut to solid pavement, dig out wet base, rebuild, tack and fill with hot-mix.
Frost heaves
Humps or ridges that rise in winter and settle unevenly in spring — usually wet base or soil underneath. Dug out, drained and rebuilt.
Washed-out edges
Runoff undercut the edge and it broke off. Rebuilt with a compacted, supported edge — and the water problem fixed so it doesn't happen again.
Failed culvert crossings
A dip or crack over a culvert means the fill settled. We rebuild the crossing properly. See runoff control.
Spiderweb cracking
A failed base. Removed and rebuilt.

Repair or resurface?
If repairs add up to a big share of the driveway, rebuilding the bad areas and placing an overlay can be the better value.
See driveway repair in Tijeras.
Questions we get
Can you fix a pothole in winter?
Temporary cold patch can hold until spring; permanent hot-mix repairs are done in the paving season.
Why do my repairs keep failing?
Usually water in the base or no saw-cut and compaction. A full-depth repair addresses both.
Do you do small repairs?
Yes. Call (505) 578-7882 and describe the damage.
